Winery Kollerhof-Lieleg

Embassie of Art/Austria

Birgit and Harald Lieleg and their family share a passion for good wine and Southern Styria. The estate was first documented as early as 1495, since 1728 it has been in the possession of the Lieleg family. There are at least 30 paths leading up into this unconventional wine heaven. A little off the beaten tracks, it turns out to be a true paradise.

Sheep and goats are grazing on pastures and woodlands. On-site wells provide spring water. Wood chips and a solar power system supply 80% of the energy used on the farm.

The traditional Southern Styrian varieties like Welschriesling, Yellow Muscatel etc. are the main crop, harvested by hand. Some fungus-resistant younger varieties like Muscaris, the Russian Blütenmuskateller (Zwetotschny) or Donauriesling point the way into the future.

The sumptuous range of extraordinary wines as well as the cosy guest rooms may well suggest a longer stay.

Birgit and Harald Lieleg have not only found themselves, but also their fulfillment in their passion for wine and Southern Styria, where nature has made brilliant use of its paint box to create a sublime display of beauty.
