The Region
Südsteiermark & Schilcherland
The Kulturbotschaften Südsteiermark – Embassies of Art are set in one of Austria’s most diverse wine and cultural landscapes. The tourist region of Southern Styria/Südsteiermark is divided into two distinctive parts:
Leibnitz district – Süsteiermark with its rolling hills and wide valleys, the South Styrian and Sausal Wine Route and the Mur as its defining river.
Deutschlandsberg district – Schilcherland with the Schilcher Wine Route, famous for its fruity Schilcher wine made from Blauer Wildbacher grapes and its landscape of vineyards and alpine pastures.
Together they form South-West Styria/Südweststeiermark, a region that borders directly on Slovenia and where viticulture, art and so much more merge in a special way.
Kultbotschafen Südsteiermark 2025 are being implemented as part of the LEADER cooperation project ‘Wir sind Qualitätsmarke’ of the LEADER regions of Südsteiermark and Schilcherland and are supported by funds from the federal government, the province of Styria and the European Union.
