Winery Trapl
Western Styria, Schilcherland, Trapl Winery: Tradition for generations
When you think of Western Styria, you think of Schilcher. This special wine is made from Wildbacher grapes, which are cultivated to remarkable quality in this wine-growing region of Styria.
The Blauer Wildbacher grape variety is common in the world of wine, but only wine made from these grapes in Styria may be called Schilcher.
Western Styria is also special in terms of landscape. The wine hills and the Koralpe mountains lie close together. This has a particularly positive effect on the climate. Sankt Stefan ob Stainz is located in the middle of Western Styria. This is where Fabian and Andrea Bayr run the Trapl Winery.
Fabian took over the family winery from his uncle Eduard Oswald.
He helps with his experience and traditional knowledge, and so every day here is an exciting symbiosis of traditional craftsmanship and modern approaches. Manual labour and respect for nature are important to both generations. You can taste this in the wines – the Schilcher, and of course in all the other grape varieties – that are vinified here at the winery.
Right at the winery, you can enjoy the wines paired with homemade cuisine either indoors – in the newly designed wine tavern – or in the beautiful outdoor dining area surrounded by vineyards. The menu ranges from traditional platters to vegan vegetable dishes.
All in all, it’s a place to discover, linger and enjoy!
